Kali N.Rathnam The Great Actor
Narayana Padaiyatchi Rathnam (c. 1897 – August 1950), popularly known as "Kali" N. Rathnam , was a Tamil stage and film artist known for his roles as a comedian in Tamil movies of the 1930s and 1940. Rathnam was born at Malaiyappanallur near Kumbakonam in Tanjore District in the year 1897 to Narayana Padayatchi and Thangathammal. His parents were agriculturists and Rathanm was acquainted with rural songs and folk arts from a very early age. As a young boy, Rathnam learned to act from a stage actor named Parameswaran Iyer. Seeing Rathnam perform the role of Kali in a stage play, Iyer christened him "Kali" N. Rathnam. Rathnam joined the Madurai Original Boys Company in 1923 and acted in Pathi Bhakthi (1936), the first movie produced by the Company. Rathnam's second movie was Mannarswami (1936). Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai -1985
Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai (English: Once Again a Love Story) is a 1985 Indian Tamil romance film directed by Pratap K. Pothen in his directorial debut, and produced by Raadhika Sarathkumar (then known simply as Raadhika). They both also stars as the lead characters. The script was co-written by Pothen along with Somasundareshwar. The film revolves around the relationship between two mentally challenged people. The soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaaraja. The cinematography and editing was handled by P. C. Sreeram and B. Lenin respectively. At the 32nd National Film Awards, the film won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director. It was theatrically released on 15 February 1985. The film marked the directorial debut of Pratap Pothen. He said that he "could find no lead actor for it, so I did it myself." Pothen portrayed negative roles in Telugu films in order to raise funds for the film. The script was co-written by Somasundares
